it is our exclusive pleasure to share with you this interview of electronic music icon... OCELOT!!!


TFFKRWD: How did ocelot get its start with producing electronic music?

OCELOT: Jimmy and I used to play in hardcore band in Austin called The Rise. It had synths and other electronics incorporated into it with us taking most of the responsibility for them. During the recording of that last record in 2004 we would work on remixes for friends bands and a few demo songs that eventually turned into ocelot. After that band stopped we kept writing for them for fun and they got sent around to a few people which unexpectedly landed us working with iheartcomix and wall of sound.

TFFKRWD: Who are some of ocelots musical influences?

OCELOT: Daft Punk, Style Of Eye, Hall & Oates, Love Unlimited Orchestra, Moroder, Michael Mcdonald, Umek, A.Mochi, Bird Peterson, Calvertron, Phillip Glass,

TFFKRWD: What software / hardware are you using to produce?

OCELOT: We use Logic, Pro Tools, and Recycle in the studio and Ableton for the live show (pioneer cdj's for dj sets) Hardware wise we have a yamaha dx100 plus the rocktron talk box to go with that, a moog lil phatty, korg ms2000, various pedals and rack processors and a couple vocoders.

TFFKRWD: What do you think will be a trend in electronic music for 2010?

OCELOT: I think some version of very melodic house will come back, that the bassline being the star will fall back a little.

TFFKRWD: What can we expect to see from ocelot over the next year?

OCELOT: We just leaked out our first track called "Our Time". In february our first single "Forbidden Touch" gets released then in May the second single "Beating Hearts" comes out shorty followed by or album "No Requests" on May 31st. Im sure we'lll be putting together a live show and touring shortly after that.
